Getting Started: Navigating the regulatory landscape
Sign up for this eventIn partnership with EY, the second webinar in our Transition Planning series will equip non-executive directors (NEDs) to prepare for the transition by positioning transition plans in the wider context of corporate reporting and other regulatory expectations, exploring how to manage legal liability risk, and preparing for audit and assurance of climate- and sustainability-related disclosures.
Transition plans are an integral aspect of an entity’s corporate strategy. Responding and contributing to the climate transition to protect and enhance long-term value is a Board-level issue in line with directors’ duties.
An essential module in our Transition Planning series, this session will help you to navigate the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape in which climate transition planning sits and understand the implications for businesses.
Our next 'Getting Started' webinar will equip non-executive directors with practical knowledge to navigate the ever-evolving UK, EU, and global regulations addressing climate transition planning and understand the director duties regarding corporate governance, controls, and legal liability risks. We will also help NEDs to move beyond compliance to position the transition plan as a strategic exercise to drive business opportunities and investment allocation; and utilise audit and assurance to improve confidence in disclosures and reduce the risk of greenwashing.
We will tackle some of the key questions facing boards as they navigate a complex regulatory landscape:
- How are you meeting your statutory obligations in relation to transition plans and wider climate- and sustainability-related reporting?
- What future regulation or policy changes related to transition planning are on the horizon in the UK and internationally that could impact you as a non-executive director?
- How can you manage different regulatory priorities and sometimes divergent requirements internationally, while minimising legal liability risk?
- How can the transition plan be presented as a ‘strategic’ opportunity for the business and not just a regulatory compliance exercise?
- What is the role of audit and assurance in increasing confidence in transition plans and disclosures?
In this module, we will cover:
- Directors’ duties and corporate governance
- Global regulatory trends in transition plan disclosures and their implications for UK businesses
- Expectations for UK-listed and other UK-registered companies
- Audit and assurance
- Managing legal liability risk
Please note: While this event is tailored for NEDs, it offers valuable insights for others involved in board-level oversight of transition planning. |
