Alex Buss

Alex joins us having been COO of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) as well as MD of SBTi Services, where he led a four year transformation that established SBTi as an independent, financially sustainable global organisation. He delivered significant commercial income growth and built the operational, legal, HR, financial and technology foundations needed for scale. Under his leadership, SBTi doubled customer contract delivery three years in a row and consistently achieved customer satisfaction scores near 90%.

Alex brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience across global multinationals, private equity–backed companies and NGOs, including GE, Comcast/NBC, Endeavor, and IWPR. His career spans major transformations, international integrations, governance design, large scale operational excellence and the leadership of diverse, globally distributed teams. Known for empathetic, mission aligned leadership and trusted relationships with boards, donors, partners and regulators, he specialises in steering complex organisations through change while delivering sustained operational, cultural and financial improvement. Alex has lived and worked in six countries.
