Biodiversity loss as a national Security Risk: What UK directors need to know

In January 2026, the UK Government published its National security assessment on global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security (UK Biodiversity Security Assessment), finding that "Global ecosystem degradation and collapse threaten UK national security and prosperity."
