The IFoA’s work suggests that current climate-scenario models are significantly underestimating climate risk and economic impact. These insights highlight the need for a new approach from both the boardroom and government, bringing climate risk to the forefront through education and new frameworks.
Chapter Zero held this unique experiential event to bring to life the potential impact of climate risk and the undisputed benefits of climate action for boards, building on the robust science-based modelling and risk insights in reports from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and the University of Exeter.
This discussion featured contributions from senior business and civil society leaders. We were delighted to be joined by Lord Deben, former Chair of the Climate Change Committee, for a keynote address. We also hosted remarks from Emma Howard Boyd CBE, former Chair of the Environment Agency and the London Climate Resilience Review, Anthony Hobley, who served as Deputy Chair, Climate, Risk & Resilience, Howden Group, and Jeremy Mathieu, Head of Sustainability at ITV and non-executive director at BAFTA albert, as part of an expert on expert discussion.
This exclusive gathering of senior leaders took place in-person at FRAMELESS art gallery in Marble Arch. Participants experienced a creative approach to communicating climate change and its relevance to business, including powerful multimedia content, impactful speeches and expert on expert discussions alongside Q&A and a tailored group exercise focused on navigating climate risk.
