Chapter Zero and the Institute of Directors announce new partnership

We are pleased to announce a new climate action partnership with the Institute of Directors.

To ensure that board directors across the UK are equipped to lead crucial boardroom discussions on the impacts of climate change, we have formed a new partnership with the Institute of Directors (IoD).

It was again clear at COP26 that businesses must continue to take the lead in keeping the goal of 1.5 alive. Non-executive directors (NEDs) will have a vital role to play in that.

We are delighted to join forces with the IoD, in supporting its members to take action on climate change. The IoD will join with Chapter Zero’s existing partners in helping to ensure that directors of UK companies of all sizes are ready for the net zero transition.

Julie Baddeley, Chair of the Board, Chapter Zero

The Institute of Directors is a non-party political organisation with approximately 20,000 members. Membership includes directors from right across the business spectrum – from media to manufacturing, professional services to the public and voluntary sectors. Members include CEOs of large corporations as well as entrepreneurial directors of start-up companies. As part of its Royal Charter, the IoD is tasked with promoting "for the public benefit high levels of skill, knowledge, professional competence and integrity on the part of directors".

Equipping directors

It is vital that directors are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to combat climate change – working together as a business community will make an enormous difference to our economy and society. We can drive the solution forward and now is the time to grasp the opportunity in front of us to lead sustainable organisations. We are delighted to be working with Chapter Zero to ensure that companies are implementing the actions required to meet net zero ambitions.
